THE CHALLENGE

 

The offshore CPP experienced an unusual spike in temperature to the thrust bearing of the power turbine unit due to heavy varnish build-up in the compressor oil, risking costly downtime and loss of operational efficiency.

 

OUR SOLUTION

 

Caltex recommended VARTECH® Industrial System Cleaner (ISC) to remove varnish build-up, followed by switching to GST Advantage® RO 32 with VARTECH® Technology and implementing LubeWatch monitoring.

MONITORING SERVICES

VARTECH® ISC was added to the system at 10% capacity, effectively dissolving and removing varnish deposits without the need for downtime, restoring optimal system performance.

The turbine oil was replaced with GST Advantage® RO 32, formulated with VARTECH® Technology to inhibit varnish formation and ensure long-term reliability and efficiency.

Regular oil analysis through the Caltex LubeWatch program tracked varnish reduction, monitored oil condition, and ensured consistent performance, preventing future temperature-related issues.
