130 students showcased their robotic programming potential
Chevron fueled STEM opportunities with “Interschool Robotic Competition”

130 primary and secondary school students had their analytic mindset and problem-solving skills put to test over the weekend at the “Interschool Robotic Competition”, organized by The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA) in partnership with Chevron Hong Kong Limited (Chevron). Held at the Grand Hall of Hong Kong Science Park Phase III, a total of 48 prizes were given to the winners. Among the 24 awards in primary and secondary categories, students from 6 different schools swept the board and all participants exerted their best throughout the competition.

The “Interschool Robotic Competition” offered a platform for students to apply problem-solving skills as well as to unearth their potential talents in STEM. The participants competed in five different themes, namely “Recycling & Categorization”, “Race for the Moon”, “Drift & Control”, “The Dribbling Challenge” and “Creative Eco-friendly Robot Design”, testing their abilities in creativity, reactions and understanding in programming, and demonstrated their knowledge of science and environmental protection.

Among the 130 participants, 96 were members of the “Caltex Robot Engineer Lab”, who had finished the 16-hour school program and the 9-hour special training prior to entering the competition. All of them successfully applied the robotic programming techniques they learned in the classroom at the competition.
