Fuel analysis highlights Caltex™ Diesel with Techron D’s proven cleaning power

August 27, 2010

KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 27 2010 – Chevron Malaysia Limited (“Chevron”), which operates the retail brand Caltex™, announced today that studies show its Caltex Diesel with Techron D® fuel continues to be a leader in providing motorists with cleaner engines for superior performance.

The comprehensive analysis of Caltex Diesel with TechronD underlined its strength in the key areas of fuel injector flow, injector deposit control, corrosion inhibition and foam reduction.

The study showed that fuel injectors in engines running on Caltex Diesel with Techron D® were 47% cleaner than those running on the same base diesel without any additives. Engine tests also showed 6% more power due to superior injector deposit control. In addition, Caltex Diesel with Techron D®   provides corrosion protection and produced 83% less foam and faster foam collapse time for a cleaner and faster refueling experience.

“The periodic fuel analysis we conduct is part of our continuous efforts to ensure that we provide our customers with high quality products that enable them to get the best out of their vehicles and the fuel they use. High quality fuel contains additives that provide superior features. Caltex Diesel with Techron D cleans vital engine parts in a car’s fuel system, inhibits corrosion and produces less foam so that the vehicle and its driver can perform at their best,” said Jeremy Oh, Country Chairman, Chevron Malaysia Limited.

The comprehensive fuel analysis has generated robust data which justifies Caltex Diesel with Techron D®’s position as a leader in providing proven cleaning power for motorists. In addition, Caltex Diesel with Techron D is also poised to continue its leadership with the impending introduction of B5 biodiesel in 2011, as mandated by the Malaysian Government.

Tests prove that B5 biodiesel with Techron D significantly exceeds Original Equipment Manufacturers’ (OEM) minimum injector cleanliness standards by more than 200%, improves injector flow by over 120%, protects against corrosion, and significantly reduces foam collapse time.

“While B5 biodiesel will be more challenging to treat than conventional diesel, the addition of Techron D produces dramatic improvements that provide proven cleaning power and reduced foaming for motorists,” said Greg Engeler, Senior Product Engineering Specialist, Chevron.

Caltex Diesel with TechronD contains the exclusive and patented fuel system cleaning ingredient, Techron D, which is technologically advanced and specially formulated.
