Who is Eligible?

This photography contest (“Contest”) is open to everyone including, all Chevron employees and contractors.

All entries have to be submitted by 31 July 2008, GMT +8, Singapore time

Photograph Submission Guidelines

• Photographs must be in colour.
   
• Digitally enhanced (DI) photos are eligible.
   
• Participants can use either film or digital camera.
   
• Photographs that have been previously published are not eligible.
   
• Participants should hold all rights to the photograph.
   
• A Model Release has to be obtained for photos with recognizable person(s) in it. Please refer to FAQ #6 for details.
   
• All entries have to be accompanied by a completed and signed entry form.
  Entries with missing, incomplete or unsigned entry forms will be disqualified.
   
• Please state the date of the shot and a short photo description (maximum 60 words) for each photograph.
  This could be a short paragraph on how he or she came across the scene they have chosen to shoot or what the photograph means to the participant.
   
• Winners and selected finalists must provide high resolution digital files of at least 300 dpi, not smaller than 3500 x 2300 pixels, CMYK Tiff or Jpeg format. Judges have the right to disqualify participants who fail to do so.
   
• Photographs can be submitted to Caltex Brand Department or email to CaltexBrand@chevron.com no later than 31 July 2008. Address for mailing:

• Photographs must be submitted via email or CD. Email submissions must be no larger than 6MB. It is advised that images are to be shot with the highest quality possible (TIFF or JPEG), to ensure maximum optimization for print output.
   
• For submission via CD, entries should be properly labeled at the back with the following information:
  • Photographer’s full name
  • Short photo description

• For safety reasons, photography inside the premises of any Caltex station is not allowed. Long-range shots, e.g. from across the road of the station, may still be allowed, but please be careful!

Please note:

By joining the Contest, you agree to the following:

• If an image file is deemed to be too small to be reproduced at the necessary size, Chevron reserves the right to reproduce the images. The original photographer’s name and work will however be credited.
   
• Submitted works will not be returned.
   
• Chevron shall not be responsible for any loss or damage caused to submitted works, and may, at its discretion, alter or retouch the photographs as it deems appropriate.
   
• No prior notice will be given should there be any changes made to the above terms and conditions.
   
• The Photographer shall assign all commercial rights to Chevron, and is responsible for ensuring all persons in the photos waive further rights to financial reward.
   

Selection of winners

1. A panel of judges appointed by Chevron (including external professional photographers) will select and shortlist the submissions on the basis of the following criteria:
   1. Relevance, or closeness, to theme
   2. Creativity and uniqueness
   3. Quality of work and richness of colours
       
2. The top 12 winning entries will be announced on the website on 22 August 2008, and winners will be notified by email.
    
3. The decision of the judges is final.
    
4. Enquiries about status of entries will not be entertained.
