Society for the Physically Disabled
Chevron, and its marketing brand Caltex, demonstrates our commitment to Singapore through social investments aimed at improving the lives of the local community.
From 2005 to 2008, Caltex also ran Groceries for Charity, a project where Chevron employee volunteers make monthly door-to-door deliveries of food items to over 100 families, supplementing their usual supply. The families were identified by SPD and include those with disabled children or disabled parents.
Between 2006 and 2008, Chevron held a charity car wash yearly at selected Caltex service stations and proceeds were donated to the SPD. Chevron employees and celebrity-participants of the Caltex-sponsored Amazing Race Asia show joined in to raise funds.
Caltex has a long standing partnership with the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) since 2000. From 2000 to 2005, Caltex donated money raised from the Caltex Masters Golf Tournament to the SPD education program, an initiative that seeks to place children with physical disabilities into mainstream schools.

Chevron-South West Energy Quest for Schools
In January 2010, we launched the Energy for Learning program in Singapore. Energy for Learning is a long-term initiative by Chevron and its retail brand, Caltex, to support learning-based programmes which create opportunities for individuals to acquire new knowledge, gain new skills or be exposed to different ways of thinking.
In conjunction with the South West Community Development Council, Chevron launched the Chevron–South West Energy Quest for schools, an initiative under the Energy for Learning Program. The collaboration will see schools adopting energy efficient habits to reduce their energy consumption, reduce their electrical bills and at the same time raise funds for needy students. The school’s energy savings will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Chevron and the South West Community Development Council.
Additionally, internet users will be able to help students and learn about energy efficiency at the same time through an online game – Energy Quest. Players gain points as they learn energy-saving tips. Chevron will contribute money based on how many points the players earn.
All funds raised will be used to aid underprivileged students in the South West District of Singapore. |
