StarCard

Welcome to Card Marketing’s Fuel Payment & Management Solutions

StarcardsWe offer a comprehensive suite of payment solutions to suit your business needs, each with its own unique advantage.

There are 3 solutions to choose from namely the StarCard, Alliance & Access solutions. All 3 solutions are primarily geared at on-the-road replenishment, but Access can be adapted to home base operations as well.

We also offer a web-based fuel management tool, BizOnline, that provides electronic fleet management, and replaces the need for handwritten records and manual reconciliation of the fleet’s fuelling transactions.

Our directory offers the most updated information on the selection of Caltex StarCard, Access and eFuel fuelling network, to ensure that route planning and refuelling is easy and effective.

Caltex StarCard, Alliance & ACCESS Payment Solutions

StarCard

Starcard ControlStarCard is the most versatile private label fleet card available to fleet managers in that it can identify companies, fleet managers, vehicles and drivers. It is the only fleet card solution available to offer the flexibility of a two-card solution of operation. However, there are also single card options available, underlining the unique flexibility of the StarCard system.

Each StarCard you order can be ordered as per your requirements to pay for certain types of products e.g. diesel, oil, toll, etc. to give you maximum control over your expenses.

Depending on your requirements, a combination of the single and two-card solutions could be ideal for your fleet.

StarCard Two-Card

The Red Vehicle Card is specific to a particular vehicle and is embossed with the vehicle’s registration number and the company’s details. This card requires the complementary use of a valid Driver Card to authorize diesel and oil transactions. The Vehicle card can also be used to pay for toll fees if required at the time of application.

The Blue Driver Card is driver specific and embossed with the driver’s name, company name and card services permitted. This card must be used in conjunction with a Red Vehicle Card. This enables drivers to switch between vehicles, by simply using their own Driver card with the appropriate Vehicle card.

StarCard Single Card

The Silver Single card comes in two variations:

  • A combined Owner/Driver card which is embossed with the vehicles registration number and company name and services allowed.
  • A Utility Card, embossed only with the company’s name and account number, is designed for use in any vehicle, and is especially useful for temporary or permanent use in hired vehicles.

Alliance Card

Starcard convenienceWe have joint alliances with major fleet card issuers namely Bankfin, First Auto, Nedfleet and Stannic. Bank Alliance StarCards for fleets of vehicles are issued and controlled by selected financial institutions. The card carries the Caltex logo and that of the financial institution with which Chevron has formed an alliance in order to offer comprehensive fleet management services. These services include payment of toll fees, vehicle repairs and maintenance.

The bank issues the card and charges a fee for the services provided. Chevron bills the customer for on-the-road diesel and lubricant purchases at selected StarCard retail sites. The bank bills the customer for repairs, maintenance, toll charges and fillings at competitor sites.

All bank alliance card transactions (except Standard Bank) are forwarded as non-billing information to the financial institutions for inclusion in their fleet management reports.

ACCESS

ACCESS is our latest advanced solution for efficient fuel control and management that integrates an electronically controlled vehicle refuelling system with a web-based reporting system. It is a secure end-to-end solution that provides both heightened control over access to fuel and enhanced monitoring and reporting of fuel usage and vehicle fuel consumption. The refuelling system authorizes, controls and monitors refuelling of vehicles round-the-clock. Regardless of the fleet and type of vehicles, ACCESS is able to achieve the following:

  • Prevent unauthorized fuelling which will translate into substantial savings
  • Automatic collection of fuelling transactions, which means greater efficiency in the use of time and human resources
  • Assurance that fuel will always end up in authorized vehicles
  • Better control and monitoring with online updates on fleets and sites
  • An increase in overall operation efficiency

This solution is available for both on-the-road as well as home base application. ACCESS is a total fuel management solution that brings together all elements of fuel consumption and the fuel inventory cycle. It gives complete information to help the fleet manager manage his fleet effectively, and in so doing, closing the fuel management loop.

ACCESSRing

The ACCESSRing, which is attached to the fuel inlet of the vehicle, contains a smart chip. This encodes with the vehicle registration and optional fleet identification numbers, in addition to providing verification of the correct fuel grade to be used. Pump authorization is performed when the pump nozzle is inserted into the fuel inlet. The dispensing of fuel will stop automatically when the pump nozzle is removed. If the ACCESSRing is removed by force, the smart chip will be deactivated thus preventing any further use of the ACCESSRing. The use of the ACCESSRing ensures that the correct fuel is dispensed and that it goes into the vehicle that authorized the transaction. Optional prompts are available to manually capture the vehicle’s odometer reading.

ACCESSPro

The ACCESSPro is similar to the ACCESSRing, but has the added ability to automatically record odometer and/or engine hours. A transceiving coil is installed installed around the vehicle fuel tank inlet that is connected to a VIU (vehicle informational unit) installed on the vehicle. The smart chip holding the vehicle identification number is securely attached to the vehicle and any attempt to remove the chip will deactivate the tag, thus preventing any further use thereafter. The installed VIU captures the distance traveled and/or engine hours (the cumulative amount of time the ignition is active in between 2 consecutive refuels) run by the vehicle between refuels and this information is automatically recorded, in addition to fuel transaction details during a refuel.

Add-On Driver ID (Available for both ACCESSRing and ACCESPro)

The driver identification feature enables transport managers to identify drivers who have access to a wide variety of vehicles. The optional driver tag verifies the user to the system for additional security. The driver identification tag can be used in conjunction with the ACCESSPro or ACCESSRing at the time of refuelling

ACCESSKey (Only available for use at home base fuel stations)

Vehicle ACCESSKey contains a smart chip encoded with the vehicle registration and optional unique fleet identification number that is pre-assigned and registered against a vehicle. Holding the vehicle ACCESSKey to the key reader will activate the fuel pump upon authorization. Optional prompts are available to capture manually the vehicle’s odometer or engine hour reading when refuelling.
