The Blue Sky Hope Centre is a project of the Talking Beads Academy, an economic venture for rural women and the youth, set-up in 1997. This organisation has to date trained more than 4500 rural women and young people in the art of beading and business skills training. Chevron has since contributed to the Blue Sky Hope Centre which was established to care for young homeless people and children left orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
Combining HIV/AIDS awareness programmes with economic life skills training Chevron is giving many rural communities a chance at a better life.
