The Vision 2000 Project is a secondary school learning initiative run by the Durban Institute of Technology in association with the Tshwane University of Technology. This initiative is aimed at encouraging young learners to follow a career in the mechanical or industrial engineering field. Chevron South Africa has sponsored a versatile mobile classroom and laboratory equipped with engineering demonstrations, computers, audio & visual displays and brochures and folders for use in educational outreaches throughout the country. The mobile classroom travels to townships and rural schools across South Africa. This project is run in conjunction with the Durban Institute of Technology and the Tshwane University of Technology. Each year the mobile training unit promotes the wonders of engineering and the opportunities available in the field of engineering to thousands of prospective students and learners.
