Caltex Pakistan's Supa Tigers Begin to Capture the Hearts & Minds

Caltex Pakistan's Supa Tigers comic series was launched in Pakistan on January 18. This new comic series based on Pakistan's most popular sport, cricket, has been developed in conjunction with Strika Entertainment – South Africa. It is about a young cricket star who rises up against the odds to spearhead the nation's pride, a cricket team called Supa Tigers playing in an imaginary champions league featuring league teams from every major cricket-playing nations. The distribution of the Supa Tigers comics is being done monthly through THE NEWS INTERNATIONAL.

Supatigers 1The Launch of Supa Tigers was communicated to the customers through an attractive communication campaign comprising of TV, Radio, Print and Outdoor advertisements. 'Picture in Picture' ads on TV, teaser ads on news papers and three different radio announcements pre-launch, launch and post launch created hype among the targeted consumers.

As part of Ground activities to further promote the exciting new comic amongst the younger generation, Caltex Oil Pakistan Limited organized a Supa Tigers Cricket tournament in Karachi. It was a two days fun filled activity where eight schools (Habib Public, Fauji Foundation, City School PAF Chapter, BVS Parsi School, D.H.A O & A levels, St.Paul's, Lyceum, Bayview) played against each other for the coveted Super Tigers trophy. There was an excellent turn out of school children & spectators at the stadium who cheered their favorite cricket teams and enjoyed the tournament, while getting familiar with Supa Tigers characters through the free copies of the comic which were distributed amongst the participating schools players and the spectators.

Supa tigers 2All eight schools displayed great enthusiasm in participating in the tournament and seven interesting matches were played in two days. All teams played very well, however Foundation Public won the trophy by beating D.H.A O& A levels in the final match by just 16 runs.

The tournament came to an end with a fun-filled prize distribution ceremony. Mr. Nadeem Jafarey, Country Representative, Caltex was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed trophies and medals among winners and runners-up. The tournament received very good media coverage through popular TV/Radio channels and key newspapers. Participating schools appreciated the initiative as a healthy activity for the kids and requested Caltex management to organize such events in the future as well, which create sportsman ship among the kids and generate positive attitude towards life among the younger generation.

The Supa Tigers are quickly becoming a buzz word amongst the school children and is expected to provide greater mileage to Caltex Brand in days ahead.
