Several customers have contacted Caltex to warn of different spam email hoaxes
circulating the internet. Some claim to offer prizes of Caltex fuel vouchers or
large cash prizes for competitions you may not recall entering.
If you receive an unsolicited email that contains “Caltex” claims,
it is likely to be a hoax.
The New Zealand Department of Consumer Affairs recommends you DO NOT RESPOND to any such approaches (even to unsubscribe), DO NOT send any personal information, and DO NOT open any attachments or click on any links.
Further advice is available at
www.scamwatch.govt.nz.
Spam emails and internet scams often mention well known brand names in an
effort to convince you they are real. They are not. We are unable to prevent
such scams circulating, but we can warn you and ask you to delete and report them
to the Department of Consumers Affairs’ Scamwatch
www.scamwatch.govt.nz website.
