Caltex produces high-grade kerosene used in a number of industry applications. It is used as a chief ingredient in making fuel for jet aircraft engines, turboprop and conventional ramjet engines. A light distillate used for general kerosene applications, including heating, lighting, and refrigeration, it is easy to light, burns steadily, and is free of objectionable odors. Kerosene is also used as a fuel in some types of portable room heaters, farming equipment, electric generators and machinery, and powers the electric generators that charge storage batteries on farms and in small villages. It is also used as a solvent for weed-killers and insecticides.
