Q. How long is a franchise term?
A. The term of a Caltex franchise varies from country to country. This term may be renewed where franchisees consistently perform above required standards.

Q. Can I own my site and have a manager run the day to day operation?
A. No. Franchisees must be involved in the everyday running of the site both as an investor and operator.

Q.Can I own more than one site?
A. Franchisees who perform exceptionally well may be given the opportunity to apply for a second site, but our main focus is our single store operators who drive their business daily.

Q. Will my Caltex StarMart store have a Caltex service station with it?
A. At this point, most Star Marts are associated with a Caltex service station (also known as a Caltex forecourt). Caltex now has a small network of standalone StarMarts without a Caltex forecourt.

Q. Will my franchise have exclusive territory? What's to stop someone else building a site in the same area?
A. No, there is no exclusive territory. Competition is high and a competitor may build in your area if the economics are good. It is likely we will know about this in advance and Caltex and the franchisee will work out how to deal with each situation as they arise.

Q. What standards do I have to comply with?
A. All franchisees are required to maintain set standards at all times during the Franchise Term. Compliance Standards are set and measured quarterly. Failure to comply can result in the franchise being removed from the franchisee. Compliance to our systems has been critical to our success and we expect this high standard to be maintained.

Q. Will I receive any training?
A. Caltex places very high emphasis on training. Training includes people management, customer service, merchandising and business operating systems. Attendance at ongoing training programs will be required throughout term of the franchise. Once accepted as a Caltex or StarMart franchisee, you will undergo an initial period of training that will vary depending on your experience. This first phase is designed to train franchisees on all parts of the system prior to commencing the franchise. It involves both classroom and site-based activities. A satisfactory level of competence in all aspects of this training must be achieved prior to final approval to operate a franchise.

Q. Will there be any training for my staff?
A. An area that is very important and has a direct impact on the success of your operation is staff training and motivation and as a franchisee you will be required to train and motivate your staff. Caltex assists franchisees by providing training tools and incentive programs that assist you in retaining high quality staff. Both Caltex forecourt and StarMart training systems are specifically designed to develop the essential skills that you and your employees need to build your franchise into a success.
